Psychotherapy

You are important. Therapy is time devoted to you.

I provide support and perspective; helping you recognize life's joys and navigate through life's struggles in a balanced, effective and healthy way.

I am straight-forward, humorous and empathic in my approach, and strive to facilitate open, honest and respectful communication while helping individuals and families reach their goals. I believe I can best serve my clients by helping them 1) utilize their own experience and knowledge; 2) build on their current strengths; and 3) tailor solutions to fit their unique circumstances.

I provide individual and couples therapy with adult and teens.

Individual Psychotherapy

Individual Psychotherapy sessions focus on what is important to you. Sometimes, the goal of therapy is figuring out just that - what is important to you. Other times, it is helpful to focus on specific issues. I specialize in helping people adjust to life changes: transitioning through divorce, aging, or medical issues; understanding and navigating the process of dying and death; practicing mindfulness and emotional regulation; changing unhealthy relationship patterns; decreasing stress; recovering; and seeking spiritual or religious clarity.

Couples Therapy

People come to therapy for many different reasons. As a couples therapist (completion of Gottman Method Levels I & II), I do my best to meet the needs of the couple itself, which can be viewed as a unique 3rd entity that is created when two individuals join together. I have particular expertise in helping couples establish and maintain effective and assertive communication with each other and to resolve conflict (rather than avoid it) while using that process to fuel emotional connection with and trust in each other. There are some couples who present with issues for which couples therapy is contraindicated. If that is the case, I will work with you to find appropriate alternative support resources.

I also provide Discernment Counseling. This is a short-term intervention designed to help couples resolve ambivalence about their relationship. It is very different from Couples Therapy.
